I work for a small company that sells our handmade products on Amazon and am in the process of beefing up our listings and “Generic keyword” section.
Sorry this is very much not my area of expertise so I am trying to get a handle over a few things I have found confusing, sorry for the basic questions.
Are all words used in the listing itself (Item Name, Product Description, Bullet Points, and Ingredients) already keywords? How do you format the Generic Keyword section? Amazon itself states to NOT use commas between keywords. But on the listing page in the generic keyword section the examples it shows are words or phrases separated by a semicolon. (Example: Water sport shoes; Derek Rose; Electric; Wi-Fi; Banana) I had thought you would format the above as following: Water sport shoes Derek Rose Electric Wi-Fi Banana Which formatting is correct or does the formatting change use of a semi-colon change how it functions? For example, do you ever repeat a word in the Generic keyword section or if it’s used once will it work for any phrase with that word? Is Example 1 or Example 2 better? Why are there 5 separate lines you can write generic keywords in? Does each line group keywords in some way?
