Hey everyone,
I am a very new seller, and have dabbled with selling a few items in low quantities just as generic items. Most of the items all sold, although I got a bit beat up on ads.
I would like to get your general thoughts about FBA and my current situation. I’m current running my own business, and have been for 4 years now developing some tech products for a certain industry. This niche market is changing, losing steam, very small market, and the marketing is being completely monopolized by a few key players who are backed by a stupid amount of money and who don’t do things right. Bottom line is, I’m to the point where I need to find something else that will create revenue and have a bigger market.
My dream has always been to be an Amazon seller. I have a lot of experience importing and logistics, and have great relationships with manufacturers overseas. So that half is easy for me. The part I seem to struggle with is picking the right products and ads. I do know that I need to register for brand registry, and am about to file my trademark and get it pending so I can setup the brand with Amazon.
My first question to you all is, is it worth it? I know how competitive it must be. I’ve been looking into smaller niche markets that are items I use for my hobby, that are low competition and decent sales volume. I don’t need to be a 7 figure a month seller, but just do 30-40k per month in revenue or whatever it takes to just get by. Obviously I’d love to do more, but my goal is just to build something that has more consistency than I have right now.
My second question is, how much competition of a product is ‘too much’ and how much sales volume do you look for as a minimum to make it worth jumping into?
My third and final question, am I being too naïve to think there’s room for a new guy on Amazon?
Thanks for your advice, I really appreciate it.
