Changing A Variation Theme

Need help/actual explanation on the steps required to change a product’s variation theme. Seller central couldn’t make this any more complicated in their support response. I had one of my approved sellers accidentally build a [roduct on Amazon before I could build/update the content etc. They did not build the product and its variations correctly and used the wrong variations theme. These products were grouped via “color/size”. I need them grouped via “color/lenscolor”. I am the registered brand owner and have our info via BR. It is now giving me errors when trying to update. I added the incorrect variations to my account and deleted them. Waited for 24hrs and still cannot update this. Can someone give me a step by step list of what to do to get these products fixed?
