Advertising to bump me higher on the list in the long run?

Basically what the title says. I was thinking that advertising the hell out if my stuff & get buyers will help bump me closer to the first page. So I don’t have to advertise so heavily in the future. Is this a good idea?

I did notice I am getting 1 or 2 sales here and there for things I’ve never advetisrd. But I assume that’s just because of the holidays.

Anyone got any better tips other than advertising to bump me higher?
