If you are just starting with Amazon, this may help you…

This sub has been inundated recently with posts from people just starting out on their Amazon journey. All power to you but please consider the following before jumping in with both feet.

If you have been watching or following someone on FB or YT or elsewhere who has offered to set you up with no hassle and has a list of products on specific marketplaces that you can sell, this is a scam.

They may have shown you screenshots with high sales and revenue but I promise you they aren’t making any money and in fact they are probably in negative profit using Amazon advertising just to push the revenue and sales. Ask yourself why they are sharing it with you if it’s so profitable… they would just sell it themselves and make the money.

You are the way they are making money. They are either recommending a service that they get paid to sell or they are selling you the inventory. Or maybe just making money via video views on YT.

In most cases you will either sell at no profit or not sell anything if you try to turn a profit. Also they will usually be violating the brands distributor agreement not to sell on Amazon or sell to anyone intending to sell on Amazon. The brand will quickly catch up and get you thrown off the listing leaving you with a load of product you can’t sell.

Source: I have several brands and we have seen a flood of sellers jump on our listings having purchased their inventory from “some guy on FB” who promised them the Earth. This person purchased from us having pretended to be a brick and mortar seller.

In all cases brands or their authorised Amazon reseller can afford to price well below you.

If at any point someone suggests that you should lie to a brand telling them you will not sell on Amazon and have your own website, this is a red flag. It doesn’t end well and you will lose money.
