GTIN Exemption – Can I really list without GTIN from GS1?

Hi, So I already have a product with 9 variations, which means I started out making a listing and buying 9 barcodes. Ugh.

Now, when I tried to make a listing, I tried to click on I don’t have a Product ID and still use by Brand Name (I’m Brand Registered) and it approved me for GTIN Exemption!

Does this mean that I can list any products now anytime without barcodes? What’s the catch?

Will this not affect my ASIN or FNSKU, or whatever.

I’m very happy that I can list without the additional cost of buying a barcodes but also skeptical that this may be an issue once the product is already selling.
