I am starting a private label brand and I want to make sure I can fight off hijackers who may jump on my listings

Hello.

I have been an amazon seller for a few years doing 100% wholesale. I am starting my own private label brand this year. My top priority is making sure that I am protecting my listings from hijackers.

From the little I have been told (from people in my network) I need to establish a trademark for my brand first before launching my brand on Amazon, this will allow me to somehow prevent other sellers from hijacking my listings and stealing the buy box.

What is the general process of getting a trademark for a private label brand, and then making sure amazon recognizes that trademark so that I can remove hijackers from my listing?
