FBA and FBM products in same variation family

Ok so I have sorted out my products and am now wondering (and I think I know the answer) if I should try to put my FBM products into the families that are occupied by their FBA counterparts.

The only difference would be selling condition… sold by merchant… there would be massive collisions and problems moving them into the same family … has anyone attempted this?
