Is direct to consumer really that much more profitable than selling on Amazon?
So I’m checking out AMZN’s marketplace and the competition is around $33.
I’m a newbie. I’ll admit I’m not sure I’m looking at this right BUT:
https://sellercentral.amazon.com/hz/fba/profitabilitycalculator/index?lang=en_US
If I plug in the ASIN there, Amazon fees are ~$6 and Fulfillment are $4.25.
Meanwhile, if I ship from my home it’s $8.25 per box. AMZN MCF might be a better option at $7.25 but will have storage fees.
If I do DTC, I’ll have to do website, handle returns, convince consumers to register and shop off Amazon…all for $3.
What am I missing? Maybe DTC is better for large items or repeat purchases?
Thanks
