Trademark for brand registration?

I’m trying to register my brand, and I see that I need a registered trademark in order to do that. Im in the USA. looks like this is around $250 and could take some months. I don’t need anything fancy. What is the fastest/easiest/cheapest/most straightforward way to go about this?
