Going in circles with error 8572. HELP
I’m trying to add a new product and I keep getting error 8572. Error 8572 seems to be a problem where the barcode you’re using matches an existing product, i.e. you should just post the existing product, instead of adding a new product.
The problem is, I purchased the GTIN from GS1, I own the brand, and the product is my own original IP. Everything is completely mine. So how can I be getting error 8572? I contacted support, and they asked for a million documents proving that I own everything, but I keep getting stuck on:
“Kindly provide a Proof of Affiliation between the Manufacturer ‘B’ and GTIN Owner “UDL”.
Now, when I said the product is my own IP, that is true, BUT I am looking at “B” to produce the merchandise. “B” is an Alibaba supplier. And when I say “looking at” I mean I’ve chatted with them on Alibaba, and I do plan on supplying through them, but I have made NO purchases with them yet, and there is no affiliation between “B” and me (UDL). I might as well be comparing prices with another supplier.
I’ve explained this a million times to the useless Amazon Seller Support people, and of course they keep sending me the same copy+paste prompts:
“Kindly provide a Proof of Affiliation between the Manufacturer ‘B’ and GTIN Owner “UDL”.
I can prove that it’s my GTIN, I can prove that it’s my brand, my trademark, WHY DO THEY NEED PROOF OF AFFILIATION WITH A COMPANY THAT I’VE NEVER ACTUALLY DONE BUSINESS WITH!! WHAT IS GOING ON??
So, after battling these outsourced morons for a few weeks now, I’ve been able to extract a little bit of information. Here’s what I think happened:
I was just getting started with FBA about a month ago and kinda figuring everything out as I went. I had talked to “B” about production, and was basically ready to go with them, but still hadn’t made a purchase yet. I decided to add the new product on Amazon, so it was ready to go once I had my inventory. Again, I admit I didn’t totally know what I was doing, but I put the info in the blanks as it asked, and I put “B” in as the manufacturer. However, at that time I still didn’t have my brand (UDL) registered on Amazon. So, I guess I checked the “generic” checkbox or whatever, filled in the GTIN info, and kinda half-ass got it all set up.
I later realized I should get my brand attached set up, so I did that, and deleted the old entry since I didn’t really know what I was doing when I had created it. Now, with my brand set up and a little better of an idea of what I was doing, I tried to add the new product again, and that’s when I started getting error 8572.
I’m not totally sure, but I’m guessing that’s where Amazon sees that “B” is attached to MY product. So now I can’t create the product attached to my brand because somewhere in Amazon’s guts it thinks my GTIN is registered with “B” or something.
Sooooo… doesn’t that mean that the product exists somewhere in Amazon? I’ve searched the GTIN, and it doesn’t find anything. I thought I deleted it, but if it’s giving me this problem, it must have it in some database or something? Shouldn’t I just be able to edit whatever they have? Or take “B” off so I can resolve the 8572 error?
Support is useless and I’m losing my mind. Please help!
