ASIN was created with non-GS1 UPC but actual barcode label is brand-owned GS1 UPC. Can I correct the UPC on an existing ASIN?
I’ve hit an issue where a bunch of ASINs have had the detail page removed because they don’t have GS1 UPCs, thereby stranding hundreds of units of inventory. Apparently, these ASINs were created by an unknown seller a long time ago before GS1 rules were enforced by Amazon and are only just now being scrutinized. These products are labeled with GS1 UPCs owned by our brand that don’t match the UPC on amazon’s listing editor page.
I know Amazon hates changing UPCs (they say it’s not possible) and that I would need to create a new ASIN using the valid GS1 UPC.
Given I can show the label with the owned UPC and the GS1 certificate on the same product as the existing ASIN, is there any way to convince amazon to correct the UPC so I don’t have to create a new ASIN?
PS, to any seller wondering why you have to spend the money on GS1 UPCs, this is why. Don’t buy non-certified codes people!
