adding a single product with flat file

I am trying to add a new product, no variations via flat file, but i keep getting 990100 error code with “the parent sku XXXXXX was refused because there exists at least one non-approved package_contains relationship. ” and also error 8008 with “we cannot recognize your child SKU: XXXXXX”. As I said there is no child sku. any idea why i might be getting these errors?
