First FBM Return- Need advice and critique

New fbm seller, had my first return today that was auto-authorized with a prepaid label. I issued a refund when I saw that the label was created. I’m pretty sure I did this one wrong since I issued the refund before receiving the item. What’s the correct way to manage and close out a return for an FBM seller in 2024/25?
