EU Import VAT via Non-Registered Country

Hi. I am registered for German VAT and shipped FBA stock from China. Unfortunately the import came via Belgium, so now I have a fat VAT bill for a jurisdiction I am not registered for. Does anyone have any experience on this and is it possible to get the VAT back?
