[PL Seller] 10+ Active SKUs, entering “Adult” Category for the first time. Questions on PPC Suppression & Compliance.
Hi everyone,
A quick background: I’m an experienced Private Label seller. I’ve launched about 15 products so far and currently have 10 active, stable SKUs running. However, none of these are in the “Adult/Sexual Wellness” category; they are all in standard/safe niches.
I see huge volume and potential in male adult toys/products and I am planning to make this my next launch. However, I’ve always stayed away from this category due to fears of strict regulations and ad restrictions.
I have a few critical questions for those experienced in selling adult products:
- PPC & Ad Suppression (Main Concern): When a product is correctly categorized as “Adult” (or gets the Adult Flag), is Amazon PPC (Sponsored Products/Brands) completely disabled? Is it strictly impossible to run internal ads for these items?
- Traffic Source / Launch: If PPC is suppressed, how do you generate initial velocity? Is the launch strategy 100% dependent on External Traffic (Google Ads, adult networks, Influencers)? How do you manage organic ranking (SEO) without the push from PPC?
- Compliance/Documentation: Aside from standard requirements, does Amazon ask for specific documentation during the listing or manufacturing phase? (e.g. specific FDA registrations, material safety data, etc.?)
- Account Risk: I have 10 “clean” products on my main account. Does selling adult products put my main account health or my other non-adult listings at risk? Would you recommend opening a completely separate account for this line?
Any insights or “do’s and don’ts” from veterans in this category would be greatly appreciated.
