An anecdote about Amazon’s dirty business practices
Background: As a successful amazon seller with a good relationship with a particular manufacturer/brand I thought I share something. I am the exclusive Amazon endorsed seller for a brand. They don’t have the time or strong desire to lock the brand and force other buyers out but they solely recommend me if someone calls them asking where to get product. We have a good relationship. The brand has told me how many requests they get from amazon seller to become dealers and basically just compete with me on the same platform, not increasing sales just competition. They’re uninterested (I also sell their product outside amazon).
The point of my post: They told me about a year ago that amazon contacted them trying to buy directly. After explaining they have me as their partner Amazon’s response was that they should cut me out and sell direct. While placing a large order yesterday they again told me that Amazon just reached out again encouraging them to sell direct (And have been consistently).
I try to only partner with companies who have some shred of morals and it has paid off here.
Advice: Remember, this is business and Amazon is not your friend or partner. They are a service you are paying. They do sellers dirty because they know there’s likely someone else waiting to replace you. Don’t be fooled into thinking otherwise.
