Tried to update manufacturing costs but was auto-denied

Hi there. I handmake my products to sell through Amazon and try to estimate my earnings based on what I would pay myself per hour (to be at least minimum wage) plus material and packaging costs. In March, Amazon are only reimbursing manufacturing costs for a damaged item. However, Amazon estimated these costs to be a lot lower than I calculate it to be and denied my request to change this value. How could I gain proof about my own manufacturing costs and have this changed successfully? Has anyone successfully changed this? Thanks for any help.

Amazon Buy Box 2025: Proven Strategies to Win and Maximize Sales

The Amazon Buy Box is one of the most powerful drivers of sales for sellers. With over 80% of Amazon purchases going through the Buy Box, securing this prime real estate is critical for maximizing sales and profitability. However, as Amazon refines its Buy Box algorithm in 2025, competition is fiercer than ever.

To dominate the Buy Box, sellers must understand the latest ranking factors, strategic pricing techniques, and fulfillment best practices that align with Amazon’s evolving policies.

How Does the Buy Box Work in 2025?

Amazon’s Buy Box algorithm weighs multiple factors to determine which seller earns the coveted position. While pricing remains crucial, Amazon now emphasizes performance metrics to ensure an excellent customer experience.

Key Factors Affecting the Buy Box in 2025

  • Pricing Competitiveness: The lowest price doesn’t always win; Amazon prioritizes overall value.
  • Fulfillment Method: FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) and SFP (Seller-Fulfilled Prime) provide significant advantages due to faster shipping and reliability.
  • Inventory Availability: Products that are in stock and ready to ship outperform backordered listings.
  • Order Defect Rate (ODR): Low defect rates, fewer returns, and minimal negative feedback boost your chances.
  • Customer Response Time: Sellers who respond within 24 hours gain a Buy Box edge.
  • Shipping Performance: Consistent, on-time deliveries are a non-negotiable factor for winning the Buy Box.
  • Seller Feedback Rating: Higher ratings and strong seller authority improve Buy Box eligibility.

Pro Tip:

Use Seller Labs Buy Box Notification to ensure you know when you lose the Buy Box or drop below a certain threshold

New Buy Box Ranking Factors in 2025

Amazon’s evolving algorithm focuses on enhancing the customer experience. Sellers need to adapt to these changes:

  • Dynamic Pricing Adjustments: Amazon monitors real-time price fluctuations. Automated repricing tools help sellers remain competitive without manual effort.
  • Prime Shipping Guarantees: FBA remains the top choice for most sellers, while SFP sellers must meet stricter delivery timelines to stay competitive.
  • Return & Refund Management: Listings with lower return rates and hassle-free refund policies receive higher Buy Box priority.
  • External Traffic Influence: Amazon rewards sellers who drive external traffic from sources like Google, social media, and influencer collaborations.

Winning Strategies to Secure the Buy Box

To consistently win and maintain the Buy Box, Amazon sellers should implement these strategies:

1. Optimize Pricing Without Sacrificing Profit

  • Implement rule-based repricing to adjust prices dynamically.
  • Keep prices competitive yet profitable to avoid price wars.
  • Bundle products to increase perceived value and boost sales.

2. Choose the Right Fulfillment Method

  • FBA remains the most reliable way to secure the Buy Box.
  • If using SFP, ensure compliance with Amazon’s strict Prime shipping policies.
  • Optimize inventory management to prevent stockouts, which reduce Buy Box eligibility.

3. Improve Seller Metrics

  • Keep your Order Defect Rate (ODR) below 1%.
  • Respond to customer messages within 24 hours to improve seller responsiveness.
  • Maintain a cancellation rate below 2.5% to avoid penalties.

4. Enhance Your Customer Experience

  • Automate the Request a Review with Seller Labs Feedback Genius
  • Offer excellent customer service to minimize disputes and returns.
  • Use Seller Labs Feedback Genius to monitor reviews and feedback.

Pro Tip:

Enhanced A+ Content and optimized product listings can also improve your Buy Box chances.

Common Buy Box Mistakes & How to Avoid Them

Even experienced sellers can lose the Buy Box due to common mistakes.

What to avoid:

❌ Ignoring Price Parity: Listings priced higher on other marketplaces are flagged by Amazon.

❌ Poor Stock Management: Frequent stockouts reduce Buy Box eligibility.

❌ Neglecting Seller Feedback: Low ratings and high ODRs harm your Buy Box chances.

❌ Inconsistent Shipping Performance: Late deliveries can significantly lower your eligibility.

Winning the Buy Box in 2025

Securing the Amazon Buy Box in 2025 requires a strategic approach, combining data-driven pricing, optimized fulfillment, and strong seller performance metrics. By staying ahead of Amazon’s evolving algorithm and leveraging the right tools, sellers can outshine competitors, maintain Buy Box dominance, and drive higher sales.

putting a item on sale permanently?

New seller here. Is it possible to essentially put an item on sale permanently? Wouldn’t this be a very good way to increase conversions by having an item always have a “on sale” and discount badge? I don’t see many sellers doing it so I guess it’s not possible? If not, what’s the best way to maximise the time that an item is on sale for?

Amazon Disabled My Sales – FBA Stock Missing and No Help from Support

Hey everyone,

I’ve been offline on Amazon since February 14 due to an issue with my German VAT number. My account was disabled because of a mismatch, but my VAT number is now verified again. However, my FBA stock is still completely disabled, showing as 0, and I can’t find it anywhere. My products are partially still listed on Amazon, but they are not buyable.

Support has been no help at all, and I can’t get a clear answer on how to fix this. Has anyone experienced this before or have any tips on how to resolve it as quickly as possible?

Thanks in advance!

Are brands considered their own manufacturer?

When looking up different products on Amazon and scrolling to the “manufacturer” section, I see that almost every brand registers themselves as the manufacturer. I doubt most brands are actually doing their own manufacturing in house….does Amazon not check when registering for brand approval or making a new listing? Or are they technically the manufacturer? I’m particularly interested in gated categories, as that’s where I plan to sell. I know from an insurance point of view, private labelers are considered their own manufacturer, but they don’t do the manufacturing themselves. Thanks!
