Amazon Sellers vs. Temu: How to Win More Customers and Boost Sales

Struggling to compete with Temu? Discover five powerful strategies Amazon sellers can use to retain customers and thrive in 2025.

Temu’s rapid rise has many Amazon sellers wondering: Is Temu stealing my customers? 🚨

With low prices, fast shipping, and aggressive marketing, Temu is changing the game. But here’s the good news: Amazon sellers have distinct advantages. The key? Leveraging your strengths—branding, reviews, and smart advertising—to stay ahead and keep customers coming back.

Why Amazon Still Wins (and Will Keep Winning)

Before panicking, let’s break it down:

✅ Temu’s Strengths:

  • Low-cost products sourced directly from China
  • Frequent discounts and heavy advertising
  • Growing mobile audience driven by impulse purchases

❌ Temu’s Weaknesses:

  • Slower shipping compared to Amazon Prime
  • Concerns about lower product quality
  • Weaker customer service and return policies

The Reality: 75% of U.S. shoppers still prefer Amazon for its reliability, fast shipping, and trusted brands. The key to competing isn’t lowering your prices—it’s delivering a better experience.

5 Ways Amazon Sellers Can Outperform Temu

1. Focus on Experience, Not Price

Price wars are a race to the bottom. Instead, differentiate your brand by offering a superior shopping experience:

  • Leverage Prime shipping and hassle-free returns—advantages Temu lacks.
  • Enhance listings with Amazon A+ Content to build trust.
  • Improve product images and descriptions to position your brand as premium.

📌 A seller increased conversions by 22% after adding a comparison chart to highlight product quality over cheaper alternatives.

2. Build a Brand, Not Just a Product Listing

Temu’s sellers are anonymous. Amazon sellers can build trust and long-term customer relationships by:

  • Enrolling in Amazon Brand Registry for better visibility.
  • Creating an Amazon Storefront to showcase all products.
  • Using Amazon Posts to engage customers and establish credibility.

📌 Brand-registered sellers see higher repeat purchases compared to those selling generic products.

3. Use Reviews & Social Proof as a Competitive Edge

Trust is everything. If customers believe in your brand, they’ll choose you over Temu. Strengthen your reputation by:

  • Automating review requests using Seller Labs’ Review Automation.
  • Encouraging customer Q&A to answer common concerns.
  • Featuring user-generated content (photos and videos) in reviews.

📌 A seller who optimized their review strategy saw a 38% increase in conversions over six months.

4. Expand Beyond Amazon—Own More Sales Channels

Temu thrives on impulse buys. Smart sellers build real customer relationships by:

  • Launching a Shopify store to sell directly to customers.
  • Using Amazon’s ‘Buy with Prime’ to keep customers in their ecosystem.
  • Implementing email and SMS marketing to drive repeat purchases.

📌 A seller who added a Shopify store with Buy with Prime retained 28% of their Amazon customers through direct sales.

5. Dominate Amazon Search & Ads

Temu floods social media with ads, but you can win where it matters most—Amazon search.

  • Target high-intent shoppers with Amazon PPC campaigns.
  • Use Sponsored Brand Ads to improve visibility.
  • Optimize ad performance with dayparting to run ads at peak times.

📌 Sellers using Sponsored Brand Ads see 2x higher click-through rates than those who don’t.

Why Amazon Sellers Shouldn’t Fear Temu

Instead of trying to beat Temu at its own game, focus on Amazon’s strengths:

  • Faster shipping
  • More trust & reliability
  • A superior brand experience

By optimizing your listings, leveraging branding, and investing in customer engagement, you can continue growing—without worrying about Temu.

Amazon Advantage – Positive Inventory Adjustments

Does anyone know what positive inventory adjustments are in Amazon Advantage payment details reports?

The negative lines I’m guessing are returns, but there are loads of positive lines that look like normal sales at the normal sales price, discount, and amount. But then why be flagged IA?

Thanks for any ideas!

IP/Brand Owner – Is FBA only worth it if you send them 1000s of units?

Been making / selling my product on AMZ for about 10 years. I’ve mainly only sold FBM, but briefly dabbled in FBA. With FBA I didn’t notice any enormous lift in sales, but I’m wondering if the reason I didn’t experience any huge lift is that I only sent them 200 units. They have 110+ Fulfillment centers in the US, so my guess is they’d need each one of them fully stocked with my product to incentivize them to push it more in the search results. Make sense? Anyone have any experience with this? Basically the question is, “If you send them more, will they sell it more?”

Having to test charge for every international marketplace?

Hi there,

Recently set up my seller account (UK) and my page is now prompting me to complete the 1 Euro charge backs for every EU marketplace? Do I have to go through this process for each? Won’t seem to allow me to progress or ensure my legal entity is right until I’ve done so. The page pops up with a checklist of uncompleted EU marketplaces to check the 1 Euro transaction against, but only selects one at a time?

Any advice appreciated, don’t want to end up accidentally signing up for multiple marketplaces as I’m primarily starting with UK based selling.

Selling single ASIN in multipacks?

I have a listing where I’ve been packing and labelling two items together. This allows me to sell twice us much as I normally would. However, repacking individual items into pairs takes time, and I’ve realized I’m missing a small amount of sales where people would prefer to buy a single item. I also want to sell a single item paired with a completely different product in a Virtual Bundle.

Is it possible for me to send my inventory to FBA packed individual as single items, then create a listing for 1 item, and a second listing for 2 items? How can I ensure Amazon will pick 2 items off the shelf and ship it together?

My goal here is to just send items to FBA in their most atomic form, then create different ASINS for multipacks and virtual bundles.
