Basic VAT question

Hi guys, doing my first tax return (UK). Very basic question but was unsure. Can you include cost of goods in your expenses? What other expenses are typical to upload, currently I have: Product sampling Market research Memberships to Amazon programmes (Perpetua, GS1) Freight costs
