Can I import Amazon prices into a spreadsheet with the Selling Partner API? And how!
I’m trying to import Amazon product data (prices) into an Excel spreadsheet.
This is difficult for me because I have little experience with both Amazon Web Services and Excel, but from what I’ve read I think it’s possible. I think.
I have an ancient book Mining Amazon Web Services that teaches you how to automate queries to Amazon’s inventory database- you could find movies by director or get the ASIN assigned to a particular product. It returned its results as XML. But the book is long obsolete. I’m looking for a modern equivalent.
I thought the spreadsheet’s importxml() function might be what I was looking for but Amazon seems to prevent me from scraping their pages. I think they want me to use their Selling Partner API instead, but I’m not sure how it works and they seem to have a lot of hoops to jump through. I’m not trying to sell anything myself, I’m trying to get prices of products Amazon is selling in an automated fashion (from a spreadsheet). Everything I’ve found so far seems targeted at professional developers writing web apps for ecommerce shops. An entry level tutorial or book would be desirable.
