“GENERIC” LISTINGS – CAN OTHERS JOIN OR NOT?

I’ve received conflicting advice from very experienced sellers, with some saying “not anymore” and others asserting “of course.” Could someone who is certain clarify whether others can join a “generic” listing? Thank you.
