How to avoid the risk of selling something that’s not permitted?

n00b here, so appreciate your help, I would like to purchase a small, yet substantial for my finances, quantity of an item I would like to sell on Amazon.

While browsing on Alibaba I encountered a few time a message that said: “Sorry this product can’t be shipped to your region”. Nevertheless the Agent was able to sell some samples of other products that they offer in their company, but it made me wonder, “How do I prevent myself from purchasing a stock, sending it to Amazon and starting to sell, only to find out it’s not permitted?” I caller the helpline but they weren’t able to offer any help.

P.s. This is not an obvious prohibited item, it’s a just an empty water bottle.
