I’m a new beauty startup, should I sell on Amazon?

I’m a new beauty startup, and I have one product. We currently only sell D2C on Shopify, but recently I’ve heard good things about selling on Amazon, and wanted to get an honest opinion on if I should try it. I’m specifically worried about the advertising cost / people bandwidth it would actually take to be successful selling on Amazon? Could I avoid that and just test by listing my 1 product and optimizing it for organic search, or do I pretty much have to invest in Amazon ads to make any sort of sales?
