Is this an Amazon vendor? How do chargebacks work?

When you are a vendor, your products are “sold and shipped by amazon”, right?

If a vendor misrepresents an item and the customer returns the item, Amazon then does a full chargeback against the vendor?

so basically no skin off Amazon’s back?

(I’m just a customer, but in a dispute with amazon which involves a vendor. So, any info about the process is appreciated)
