Manufacturer shipping question

I’m new to the wholesale/retail scene. I’ll explain my question with an example.

Say I purchase 1000 metal straws from Alibaba to sell on Amazon. The straws are typically individually packaged. However, I want to place 4 straws in a pack to create a 4 piece product before shipping out to Amazon. Is this an ok request to ask of the manufacturer and would they even do it or do I need to ship the 1000 straws to my address and repackage them myself?
