Opening a Amazon Seller Account fee

Hi, I’m interested in doing Amazon FBA, and Im trying to sign up for the $40/mo subscription service, however

upon signing up they ask for my CC details and mention I’ll be charge $40 for the first month, $0 if no active listings. However, I dont have my product yet nor can I ship it to Amazon because I dont have an account.

Is there no way around this first $40? Do I just need to pay it?
