Preparing root SKU on GS1

Hello Everyone,

I had posted earlier about launching my product, unfortunately the post was deleted. I have since gotten many steps closer to launching and I’m Currently in the GTIN stages. One of the line questions on GS1 was the SKU and I recalled back to the a very helpful user here who said the following to my previous post. Can someone please explain this to me and maybe give suggestions on SKU naming..

This was the users suggestions. If you are reading this friendly user i really appreciate your help and this rang a bell when I was on GS1.

” Also, my advice: if there is any chance you will ever spin variations of your product, start the journey by creating a parent or “root” sku and create variations under it. It makes FBA inventory management simpler should you ever add a variation. “
