Removing images from listings you do not control

On a basic level our company had sponsored athletes, we released promo images and had them on our Amazon listings. Over time people have created the same listings with different ASINs that are not assigned to our account. We are getting push back from their legal team to remove the images now. How do we handle removing images, from duplicate listings that we do not control.
