Should newbie start by selling generic product or private label product ?

As a new seller, I cant compete with existing seller for the search box.

Should I create a brand new generic product to guarantee I get the buy box?

For example I sell a generic iphone cable list it with name “My unique brand iphone cable”, but in fact it may be identical product with some existing listing. Will I get banned ?

Also, I see many seller actually selling identical product with OEM printed logo. Is it worth to get a OEM for a logo ? Why so many seller do in this way ?
