Strange customer search terms in Sponsored Products Search term report

I receive weekly search term reports for my sponsored product and honestly, i am getting little to no sales.
I’ve been quite frustrated with the report’s i’ve been receiving where the majority of customer search terms are ASIN number like a0x39kdm.
When I run the top search term in search bar on Amazon as if a customer would, the top selling product in my category appears. It is an ASIN match to that competitor’s product!
I have to note that I am selling my product as Generic as I do not have trademark. Does this have anything to do with the above? Would really appreciate your thoughts.
