How to sign up for an individual seller account
I thought I was signing up for an individual seller account (the kind where you pay per purchase) until I got to a page that says this:
“Monthly Subscription Fee
You will be charged a Professional selling subscription fee of 29.99 CAD for the first month. You will continue to be charged this fee each month if you have active listings. If you do not have active listings, you will not be charged a subscription fee in that month. If you expand to sell in other stores, you will pay the equivalent of 39.99 USD per month, split proportionately across each country or region in which you have an active listing and charged separately in each local currency. You can downgrade at any time. For more information, see this page.”
And it’s asking for my card info. I’ve tried going back and even logging out entirely and no matter what I try, it keeps bringing me back to this page with no option for how to change my subscription type.
I do not want to pay the subscription fee even once. I’ve read that you can downgrade a professional account, but I’m worried it’ll still charge me for the first month if I make a professional account and then downgrade it. Is there any way to sign up for an individual account and not get dinged? Do I have to make a whole new account and start all over? Why does none of the instructional info about becoming an Amazon seller describe this problem?
