Does Anyone Know the Reason for the Common “SKU does not match any ASIN” Error When Using A GTIN/UPC On A New Product Listing ?
So, the next problem presents itself:
After buying a GS1 USA GTIN/UPC and waiting about 20 days, I go to create a new product listing in seller central using the GTIN.
Whether entering it as GTIN (appending the prefix 00) or as UPC, the same result:
“The SKU does not match any ASIN and contains invalid value(s) for attributes required for creation of a new ASIN
The SKU does not match any ASIN and contains invalid value(s) for attributes required for creation of a new ASIN.”
After reading around, it seems to the solution is to badger Amazon support and maybe they might they allow you through.
Does anyone know the specific cause of this though?
Some people seem to suggest its correlated with only the GTINs from GS1 USA, which are the infinite licenses, as opposed to the annual renewals.
Others suggest the product descriptions must be absolutely identical between Amazon and GS1; honestly, this isn’t possible for me to do, since I didn’t create the GTIN to be an identical description to Amazon.
Rather I followed the rules of GS1; for example, GS1 tells you to include the brand name in the product description {brand name, product name, description of contents} when ordering a GTIN. Well, I am not doing that for my Amazon listing; if “Item Name” of Amazon listing corresponds to GS1’s “product description” then I’m not including the brand name there, but in the “Brand Name” field directly below it. Who knows? As long as all the main keywords are there, this all seems trivial.
Anyway, does anyone know what the issue actually is that’s tripping this problem with my 20 day old GTIN/UPS tripping this error with Amazon?
