My item is NOT on Alibaba

New seller here, actually I haven’t even started the selling process yet. I’ve been researching the past 10 days and in the process I think I’ve found a good first product to list, but Alibaba doesn’t sell it. Should I forget about it and move on or make some prototypes and test the waters? I’m considering making them myself or pay a friend to make them for me, the product is really simple and it sell’s for $25-28 on other sites with great reviews but it isn’t listed on Amazon. Thoughts?
