Can Amazon just toss away returns instead of reselling them

We’re having a few issues where people are returning tarnished items, and amazon is just reselling them – causing a customer satisfaction problem. Can we request Amazon just toss returns in the bin instead of reselling them? It’s a little gnarly to resell things like earring studs for example.
